The Recovery March

We gathered together
Numbers great;
To march,
Not in protestation,
But celebration.

Will made ourselves visible,
To the public world.
No shame involved.
We declared; who we are.
People of an illness.

We suffer the same as others,
But; in a chronic state.
No cure, only a daily reprieve.
All because, we came to believe.
In a power greater than thee.

We drew attention,
To our illness, not a lack;
Of moral fibre.
Of moral character.
We are sick who have triumphed.

Arriving at our destination,
We revelled in celebration;
We had succeeded
In our challenge, to show;
Ourselves to the world proudly.

Thank you to all who came;
You showed no shame,
In your illness; showed prided
And power to manage;
Our terrible affliction.
