Long Road To Recovery

So you’re sober now,
But plagued by insanity still;
In Recovery.

The road has only just begun,
Your song has not yet been sung.
You now face the steps; one by one.

No easy task lies ahead.
Your whole way of thinking is;
About to be turned on its head.

You may be lucky and have,
An instant spiritual experience;
Such as Bill Wilson himself.

Though most will gain spirit
Through education itself.
What? I hear you say.

Yes that’s right, no quick fix for you today.
No instant solution,
Your minds got to be ready for revolution.

Learn from the best.
Seek knowledge from those who have it;
And use it.

Spiritual change is slow,
Only to give you time to grow, so;
In a new sane mind your foot fits the shoe.

Progress slow or fast, just never;
Skip ahead. You may wind up dead.
Else it’d be called the steps whenever program instead.

Wishing you luck on your journey ahead.
It’ll be tough and rough,
Some days you’ll need to slow down; because you’ve had enough.

Do whatever it takes; because
Those who this has worked for,
They aren’t any fakes.

One day you shall be filled with spirit,
Not the kind you may instantly think.
A god, force or higher power will seize the hour.

A god found; will give you power,
No longer running on self-will by the hour.
You’ll have the key to the golden tower.

Inside you’ll find never ending steps,
Start climbing; but never reach the top; it’s not a degree,
But a life commitment to recovery.

God bless those who get this message.
Keep its knowledge not to yourself; but share
To those still living in despair.
